About Siembra NC

Siembra NC is a grassroots basebuilding organization focused on defending our communities from abusive employers, landlords, ICE and bad políticos. Our strategy is to achieve el buen vivir and dignity for our communities by recruiting thousands of Latinos who are “on the sidelines” to fight to win a true multiracial democracy.

We began in 2017 as a reaction to the Trump Administration’s war on immigrants. Since then we have:

  • Organized dozens of workers to win back their stolen wages
  • Recruited thousands of North Carolinians to make it possible for immigrants to go to school and work safely
  • Helped dozens of people win release from detention
  • Won the state’s first mobile home park municipal displacement fund
  • Elected candidates who pledged to fight for our agendas when in office
  • Registered thousands of Latinos to vote

Since early 2025 our victories include:

  • Won back over $280,000 in returned stolen wages
  • Engineered the “4th Amendment Workplace”: We launched a first-of-its-kind initiative that trains employers and workers to refuse consent to ICE without a judicial warrant. And we’ve won municipal resolutions in Carrboro, Durham, and Boone to protect our people on the job.
  • Forced Border Patrol out of our state: Over 7,800 people took at least two actions with us when CBP began Operation Charlotte’s Web on Nov. 15, 2025, forcing them to end a planned two-week operation after only six days.
  • Took the Fight National with Defend and Recruit: We turned our North Carolina lessons into a national playbook, training thousands across the country and helping form over new local defense networks to fight the detention machine.
  • Defeated Avelo Airlines: We helped lead a successful national campaign to stop Avelo Airlines from being complicit in ICE’s deportation flights.
