4th Amendment Workplaces

After ICE started ramping up the use of unconstitutional entry to detain immigrant workers in January 2025, some of our members began talking to each other and their employers about how to stay safe at work. Through those conversations, we developed the Fourth Amendment Workplace program.

Fourth Amendment Workplaces ensure that families and workers across North Carolina are safe and businesses aren’t having their rights infringed by illegal searches and seizures.

That project evolved into conversations about how our municipalities could be involved in training workplaces to protect their Constitutional rights. Carrboro, Durham and Boone subsequently became 4th Amendment Workplace Cities.  You can check out the current list of workplaces. Interested in learning more, signing up as a Fourth Amendment Workplace, or canvassing for Fourth Amendment Workplaces in your community? If you’re in NC, check out our upcoming canvasses. If you’re outside of NC, sign up for the toolkit here if you’re a community member, and here if you’re an employer or manager.
